“According to recent studies about 20 percent of contracted websites, software development and graphic designs worldwide are made by freelancers. Customers choose and stay with freelancers because their rate can go as low as 70 percent compared to industry standards. “

As you can see, Freelancing has become very popular these days. I’ve started doing freelancing about three years ago and fortunately found some good freelancing sites. There are many sites there in the web but not all are secured and well controlled by rules. But Rent a coder is such a site that gives good protections and fair rules to both buyers and coders.

to join freelancing what should we have?

Nothing much, there’re freelancing sites such as http://www.rentacoder.com , http://www.getacoder.com, http://www.freelancer.com .etc. You can goto those sites and check what kind of jobs they have. They usually get lot’s of jobs everyday relating to every IT subject. So you can choose one of those projects, suggest a price (start from a low price when you are new to the site) and after few tries you should get your first job in freelancing. It’s really no big deal. Try it and get experience and earn some money.

Hi Lucky,
First of all thanks for this post.
I’m interesting on doing freelancing jobs. I have 2 years experience on Industry.
So what is the best price you think I should put at the beginning.
And how do I add cost for the project.
Do I have to give the price on hourly based or on project based.
What is the range of price we can add for the when apply for project.
Waiting for your quick response.
Thanks.

Hi,
well, normally 100 bugs is alright. Usually that’s sort of a standard for normal projects.
You should give your cost when you bid for a project at the very beginning. You can’t charge for hour basis usually(you can only if the buyer agrees).
The range differs from few bugs to thousands. It’ s just a matter of confidence, communication skills and lots of luck
Wish you luck.
Cheers

this is a good news, sometime there are bugs where we cant help them, so to allow them is the best that we can do I think or else the cost of the project will rise rapidly. any somethings cannot be solved even you can pay money.
As I have been a freelancer for the last 2 years, I know a bit about handling bugs and I have run on to some problems that cannot be solved

Freelancing is one of the very best ways to make money. No commuting, the flexibility to set your own schedule, no bosses (well, OK, so there are some bosses). I love it! I’ve been doing this for over three years now, mostly with article writing, but a little web design here and there, and it’s really a great way to live.

In fact, today, I have started sharing about my experiences with Freelancing here … http://freearnings.wordpress.com/
I plan to share real experiences w.r.t. the pain points, caveats, skills, etiquette, tools etc. for freelancing, apart from the varied opportunities available around.
